A Darker Take on the Sunset

This poem is slightly darker than my previous ones, but it might be my favorite out of my growing collection of sunset poems. Photo credit goes once again to @jrogero578.

ARMAGEDDON
By Julia Koslowsky

The sky is boiling
The sun is roiling
The trees are all aflame;
Pink streaks between
The purple flash,
Raining on all things.
Run, you sons and daughters,
Run fast, as fast you can
Run from the boiling thunder
Run from the skies of man.
The battle now is brewing
The clouds reflect the start
Of a war gone wrong, and all
That’s left are wounds among the hearts.
Run through the sacred forests,
Away from sun and stone,
Away through wood and valley,
Away from sunset’s harm.
The sky is boiling
The sun is roiling
The world begins to fade
The fire spreads throughout the trees;
Armageddon begins today.
